Lichfield Maize Maze

Over 3 miles of pathways to explore. Come and get lost!

Award Winning Maize Maze

Visit us each summer and autumn to explore our award winning 10 acre maize maze (winner of Muddy Stilettos Best Family attractions, West Midlands and Warks 2023) on our beautiful farm created entirely from 1,000,000 maize plants as well as sunflower picking and pumpkin picking! With approximately 4 miles of paths creating our “amaizing” design, you can look forward to a wonderful and affordable day out. Armed with our maze map, stickers and activity card, families and friends, young and old can navigate their way through the mazes, spending lots of happy and wholesome time in the fresh air. For little legs, why not explore our lovely mini maze with 0.5 miles of paths.

Each year, the theme and design of our mazes changes, an incredible feat of design, technology and agriculture in itself!  Visitors wandering through our mazes will find our mazes both fun and educational; visitors young and old take great delight in navigating their way around our mazes with the odd wrong turn! There is fresh air in abundance, escapism and fun, all against an amazing backdrop of thousands upon thousands of beautiful sunflowers, pumpkins and wildflowers.

Afterwards, enjoy relaxing in our picnic area whilst your little explorers dig for hours in our huge sand pit, play on our bale towers and enjoy a LOT of games of Swingball! Our mini tractor yard is a huge hit with lots of ride on pedal tractors for any budding young farmers! Light refreshments and delicious locally produced ice creams are available to buy, and we happily welcome those who bring their own picnics.

October brings two new spooky maze games, a fantastic spooky sunflower walk with lots of funny photo opportunities, our incredible Pumpkin House, and pumpkin picking from our very beautiful and peaceful hidden pumpkin patch. We look forward to welcoming back many returning visitors as well as lots of new faces!

Thank you so much for your support here at Lichfield Maize Maze, we couldn’t do it without you and are so grateful.

We can’t wait to welcome you back!

We want our maize maze to have a strong link to our ethos and love of both farming and the incredible biodiversity that we have on our farm.

We are so lucky that our farm offers a safe and wonderful home to so many different bird species.  We have many different habitats here – hedgerows, ancient woodland, streams, ponds, wild bird flower and seed strips, as well as grassland – all providing a diverse range of habitats for our feathered friends.  We also now have our incredible sunflower field that provides birds with energy-rich fuel throughout the cold winter months.  We do not commercially harvest our sunflowers, but instead leave them to drop their seeds to feed our birds over the winter as well as to provide shelter from the elements.  Bird numbers on the farm have massively increased since we first opened Lichfield Maize Maze in July 2022, we even saw our first peregrine falcon circling above us in June 2023! We couldn’t be happier that our new venture is benefitting the wildlife and insect populations on our farm.

Our maize maze games are fun and educational, suitable for children and adults alike.

All visitors to the maze receive an activity card, stickers and map.

We love working alongside the Wildlife Trust, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and the RSPB.

Come & Visit Us

We plant our maize, sunflowers and pumpkins in May as well as strips of special bumblebee and butterfly wildflower mix to support and promote the biodiversity of our beautiful farm.  With plenty of sun and rain, and lots of tender loving care from farmer Richard, a lush and beautiful field of maize, sunflowers and wildflowers appears just in time for the summer holidays!  After everyone has been to explore and enjoy our maze and sunflowers throughout the summer and early autumn, it is all hands to the deck to get ready for some spooky Halloween fun!  Our incredible Pumpkin House is erected and some rather funny and slightly spooky visitors appear!  What will they be doing this year??? Don’t forget to have your annual family photograph in our Pumpkin House! At the end of October, our maize is harvested for cattle feed and our sunflowers are left uncut to provide food and shelter for our wonderful birdlife throughout the winter months.  We will keep you up to date with the progress of our crops on our Facebook and Instagram pages.  Please follow us and tag us in your social media feeds, use hashtag #lichfieldmaizemaze
